About the Global Health Academy

A GLOHRA initiative for early career researchers (ECRs)

The Global Health Academy is a GLOHRA initiative which supports scientific capacity-building in global health by strengthening disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research skills and competencies of doctoral students and postdocs at research institutions in Germany.
Our objectives are to:

  • Facilitate mutual recognition of courses for doctoral students across German universities
  • Collect courses offered and suitable for ECRs by German universities in the GLOHRA Training Repository
  • Identify, develop, and run courses that universities do not or cannot offer
  • Provide an informal network for ECRs

Structure of the Global Health Academy

The Steering Committee leads the Global Health Academy and has appointed the GLOHRA Steering Committee  member  Prof. Dr. Walter Bruchhausen as Head of Academy to develop its activities and host the Academy Coordinators. Further support is provided by the Academy Advisory Board (AAB), made up of representatives from all GLOHRA research areas.

The AAB represents members of all GLOHRA research areas, researchers at all career stages (early to mid-career and senior), researchers from ‘small’ institutions alongside the ‘large’ institutions (this requirement does not refer to the size of the university as such, but to the personnel, funding etc. allocated to Global Health).
