GLOHRA Academy Series with Dr. Isabel Mank

GLOHRA Academy Series

Guest Speaker: Dr. Isabel Mank, German Institute for Development Evaluation
Topic: Strengthening sexual and reproductive health and rights in partner countries: An evaluation of German development cooperation.

The Series directs special attention towards the added value of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in global health research. Every first Tuesday of the month, speakers share insights into their research projects while focusing on research processes, methods as well as lessons learned. Following the 30-minute speaker’s presentation, the Series encourages an academic exchange between the speaker and the audience in a 30-minute Q&A session.

Dr. Isabel Mank is an evaluator at the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval), where she and her team lead the evaluation of German development cooperation in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights. They examine how effectively current interventions address maternal and neonatal mortality, unsafe abortions, and gender-based violence in partner countries. Using a method-integrative approach, the team combines case studies in partner countries like Malawi and Togo with secondary data analysis to assess the strategic relevance and impact of Germany’s development policy. In her talk, Dr. Mank will present key insights from the evaluation and discuss how evidence-based evaluation can contribute to more coherent, rights-based development cooperation in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights.
