The European Commission launched a Call for Evidence on the EU Global Health Resilience Initiative, inviting stakeholders to share perspectives on how to strengthen resilient health systems worldwide. The initiative aims to improve preparedness for future health threats, enhance health system capacity, and address challenges such as misinformation and inequitable access to resources.
GLOHRA contributed to this consultation by outlining key priorities for a sustainable and equitable approach to global health resilience.
Key recommendations include:
- Strengthening research capacity in partner countries
Resilient health systems depend on strong, locally embedded research and innovation capacities, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). - Ensuring equitable partnerships
Global health collaboration must move beyond implementation roles towards shared decision-making, fair funding access, and data sovereignty for partner countries. - Improving coordination across EU instruments
Closer alignment between the initiative and EU research frameworks (such as FP10) is essential to build coherent and sustainable global health ecosystems. - Investing in trust and local science
Addressing misinformation requires long-term support for local research institutions and science communication capacities. - Promoting global solidarity
Global health engagement should be rooted in equity, partnership, and shared responsibility, rather than primarily driven by European self-interest.
