The Series directs special attention towards the added value of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in global health research. Every first Tuesday of the month, speakers share insights into their research projects while focusing on research processes, methods, as well as lessons learned. Following the speaker’s 30-minute presentation, the Series encourages an academic exchange between the speaker and the audience in a 30-minute Q&A session.
Prof. Dr. Till Bärnighausen is Alexander von Humboldt University Professor and Director of the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health. He is internationally recognized for his research in population health and global health, with a particular focus on evaluating the impact of large-scale health interventions and developing innovative methods for population-based health research. Throughout his career, Prof. Bärnighausen has led numerous international research projects on HIV, vaccination, and health systems, collaborating with leading research institutions and global health organizations. His work has contributed to improving the design, evaluation, and implementation of evidence-based health interventions in diverse settings around the world. In addition to his role in Heidelberg, he is Adjunct Professor of Global Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Senior Faculty at the Africa Health Research Institute in South Africa. In the upcoming session, Prof. Dr. Bärnighausen will present on “Methods for Global Health Intervention Research."
