GLOHRA Day 2026, the sixth annual symposium of the German Alliance for Global Health Research (GLOHRA), brought together the GLOHRA community for a day of research exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration and new connections across research, policy and practice. More than 200 participants joined on site in Berlin and online to connect with colleagues from across the GLOHRA network.
The day began with the GLOHRA General Assembly, including the introduction of the new 2026–2028 Steering Committee. Members then shared their work through the “Meet Our Member Live” session, poster presentations and interactive discussions, highlighting the breadth of research taking place across the GLOHRA community.
After lunch, the interactive “Ask the Community” session brought participants together in thematic roundtables and mini-methods forums to exchange ideas, discuss shared global health challenges and learn from one another’s methodological approaches.
The afternoon featured the second GLOHRA Prize for Global Health Research. Five nominated projects presented their work in short pitches before participants selected this year’s recipients. Congratulations to Mosquito-based Artemisinin Resistance Surveillance (MARS), led by Welmoed Van Loon, and School-based Prevention of Teacher and Family Violence (PreVio), led by Tobias Hecker, Janina Steinert and Eliud Kabelege, on receiving this year’s prizes.
The day concluded with a keynote from Prof. Tin Tin Su on “Co-designing community-based heat adaptation interventions in LMICs.” Delivered on one of Germany’s hottest days of the year, the keynote offered a timely reminder of the importance of working with communities to develop effective and locally relevant approaches to climate adaptation.
